Prior to joining IFRRO, Olav worked for eight years as the Deputy Executive Director of Kopinor, a Norwegian reproduction rights organisation, and for four years as the Director of Operations at the Norwegian publishing house Det Norske Samlaget.

From 1993-1998, he played an active role in IFRRO’s working groups and committees, serving both as a member and Chair. Currently involved in the European Commission’s i2010 Digital Libraries Initiative, Olav is an active representative of author and publisher rightsholders in the copyright division of the High-Level Expert Group.

Olav is a Norwegian citizen and has a Master’s degree in Modern History and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics. He is an author of literature on management (including Management by Commitment), as well as various articles on copyright and collective management. He is also a guest lecturer on collective management of copyright at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
